Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Southampton, and Wolves are the talk of the papers today.

Bringing you the latest news, gossip and rumour from the last 24 hours.

Liverpool are reported to have been tracking Esteban Granero since January, and are reported to have had a bid rejected for the midfielder. The 25-year-old made just seven league starts for Real Madrid last season, and despite being highly rated, realistically needs a move to gain regular first team football. The Mail claim Liverpool made a bid for the star and it was turned down, but fail to specify how much the offer was.

Granero to Liverpool?

Meanwhile the same paper report that AC Milan are about to step up their interest in Liverpool frontman Andy Carroll. The rumour stems from Silvio Berlusconi’s son praising the striker’s Euro 2012 performances, and it is claimed that the Italian giants want to take Carroll on loan. It appears there is very little in such an offer for Liverpool, especially after they let Milan have Aquilani on loan last season. Carroll also stands a chance of more action at Anfield, but if Brendan Rodgers does not see him as part of the setup, he may see Milan’s offer as an escape route.

One time Manchester United target Robert Lewandowski has emerged as a target for both Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur. The Borussia Dortmund striker is being coveted by both clubs, report The Metro. The 23-year-old scored 30 times for the German champions last season and led the line for Poland at Euro 2012. United backed off because of his price tag, with Dortmund holding out for more than £20 million. He has two years left of his contract, and a big offer could persuade them to sell, and both Chelsea and Spurs are believed to have the funds to do so.

The Sun claim that Premier League new boys Southampton are chasing Crystal Palace youngster Wilfried Zaha. The winger has previously been linked with Liverpool, Tottenham, and Newcastle, but Palace are yet to receive any bids for the attacker. Zaha is just 19, and is on the reserve list for the Britain Olympic squad. He was the Championship Young Player of the Year last season, and Southampton know all about him. Palace would likely hold out for a bid above £7 million and hope to get a bidding war going if they decide to cash in on the starlet.

Zaha to Southampton?

Former Chelsea youngster Michael Mancienne, is wanted back at Wolves, where he spent three separate spells on loan. He signed for Hamburg last summer but made just 14 starts. The former England under-21 captain can play in both midfield and defence, and featured as a centre-back last season. The Mirror report that new Wolves boss Stale Solbakken wants to bring him back to Molineux, and Hamburg would be willing to do a deal at the right price.
