Transfer Talk: Featuring Adam and Hernandez

Everton, Liverpool, Swansea City, Southampton and Chelsea are the talk of the papers today.

Robin van Persie is tipped to complete his move to Manchester United today, flying into Old Trafford to undergo a medical and agree personal terms. While that dominates the headlines, there is plenty of other transfer news and gossip going on too…

Charlie Adam is being tipped to quit Liverpool and complete a sensational switch to Everton, report the Mirror. Everton currently have money to spend after selling Jack Rodwell and creative midfielder Adam is thought to be open to a switch. There is more intrigue added to any potential deal with the news that Adam’s agent is the brother of Everton manager David Moyes. He could be available for as little as £5 million, with Fulham also reported to be interested.

Swansea City are to make a bid for Valencia winger Pablo Hernandez. The 27-year-old played under Michael Laudrup at Getafe and the manager is keen to spend the money received for selling Joe Allen to Liverpool. The Mail report that Swansea have had a £4 million bid turned down and are holding out for £5.5 million.

Liverpool‘s chase for midfielder Nuri Sahin is edging closer to an agreement of a loan deal, while the Mail report they are also interested in Atletico Madrid centre back Diego Godin. Godin would become the third Uruguayan at the club, but would only be an option if Daniel Agger was sold, while he has also been suggested as an alternative for Manchester City.

A remarkable development is reported by the Southampton Daily Echo, with the paper reporting that Southampton are in talks to sign Liverpool and Spurs target Gaston Ramirez. The Saints chairman Nicola Cortese is said to have held discussions over the move, but whether they can afford his asking price is another matter. Ramirez would likely cost around £20 million, and Southampton would only be willing to pay half that, while his wage demands which scuppered a move to Spurs would also be a stretch for the ambitious south coast club.

And finally, Chelsea prospect Sam Hutchinson is wanted on loan by Nottingham Forest. Hutchinson battled back from a career-ending injury last season, and featured on Chelsea’s pre-season tour. The defender can play centrally or at right-back, but with Chelsea still chasing a replacement for Jose Bosingwa, Hutchinson may be needed as cover for Branislav Ivanovic, so this may be a loan deal the club will not agree to just yet.
