Genk winger Kevin De Bruyne has been a target for Chelsea for the past year, and the player is openly courting a move to Stamford Bridge.
He is again quoted in today’s papers stating that he will not stay at the Belgian club another year.
Bringing him to Chelsea would be a good move to the club, he could be a natural replacement for Florent Malouda who is expected to leave this summer.
At Chelsea he would be able to link up with young international teammate Romelu Lukaku who is yet to be given a proper chance.
The issue is the price tag, can the two clubs agree?
Liam Ridgewell was one the best defenders in the Premier League last season so it was a surprise that he did not get snapped up in the summer.
Along with Scott Dann and Roger Johnson the trio won plenty of plaudits for their part in Birmingham City‘s League Cup winning run before their relegation.
The Mirror report today that West Brom are going to bid for Ridgewell for the second time in a week after earlier having a bid rejected.
We suspect this deal will eventually go through and he would be a solid addition to West Brom’s improving back line.
One of the big transfer stories of the day is Norwich City having a £2 million bid agreed for Leeds captain Jonny Howson.
The midfielder would fit in well at the Canaries who are proving along with Swansea to be one of the Premier League’s surprise packages.
Leeds fans will not be best pleased at losing their captain for such a small fee, but supporter and England cricketer Tim Bresnan has weighed into the debate on Twitter, saying the club cannot stand in his way and he deserves the opportunity.
With Norwich looking assured of Premier League football next year already it will be a good move for the player.
The Mirror report that Stoke City‘s forgotten striker Kenwyne Jones could be off to Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal.
The former Sunderland striker looked to be coming good last season, but has dropped down behind Peter Crouch as number one front man, and also been eclipsed by Jonathan Walters excellent form.
He has been given opportunities in the Europa League and done reasonably well, fans would hope being part of the most exciting time in the club’s recent history will be enough to convince him to stay.
No doubt the Saudi’s will be offering an attractive financial package, will he become another Asamoah Gyan?
Dimitar Berbatov is surely heading out of Old Trafford, with Sky Sports confirming on Sunday night that the Manchester United forward is in negotiations with a number of German clubs.
Our early article discusses the various options Sir Alex Ferguson could have if he chooses to go and buy a replacement.
