Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, and Liverpool are all looking to buy and sell this January…
All the last 24 hours transfer news and gossip you need to know in one place…
The papers are buzzing this morning after Harry Redknapp made comments about Demba Ba‘s release clause in his Newcastle United contract.
This is the same Harry Redknapp who famously said he never comments on other clubs players. Oops.
The Spurs manager said that Ba’s release clause is under £7 million, a bargain considering his season’s haul of 15 goals.
Liverpool have also been linked with a swoop, but Newcastle will be loathe to sell the star who is currently absent at the African Cup of Nations.
Always thinking ahead, both Newcastle and Tottenham have their eye on Huddersfield Town hotshot Jordan Rhodes, with both being linked to a £5 million swoop.
West Ham were reported to be lining up a bid, but the Metro reports that Spurs and Newcastle both had scouts in the stands for Rhodes’ five goal supershow at Wycombe on Friday night which took his tally for the season to 27.
He is obviously a great prospect, and at that price he would be a steal.
The Mirror reports that Arsenal are finally ready to get shot of Andrey Arshavin and are willing to listen to offers.
Whether any Premier League clubs who have witnessed first hand his uninspiring performances would be willing to bid remains to be seen, and a move back to Russia seems most likely.
Arsenal are hoping for bids of around £12 million, which in likelihood only clubs with more money than sense are likely to pay.
Could it be one out, one in at Arsenal? The Mail reports that the Gunners are in talks with Chelsea to sign forward Solomon Kalou for as little as £3 million.
Arsenal and Chelsea have done quite a bit of business over the past few years and don’t rule this one out.
It has been rumoured that Kalou is even flying back from the African Cup of Nations to discuss the deal, before heading back to play/sit on the bench for the Ivory Coast.
The paper also reports the Gunners have shelved plans to sign Lukas Podolski until the summer.
And finally, our own website discusses the future of Blackburn forward Junior Hoilett who is one of the most in-demand youngsters of the transfer window.
Tottenham are lining up a bid, with Stoke and Liverpool also interested, with Rovers finances meaning they do not wish to risk losing him in the summer for nothing when his contract expires.
You can read our article by clicking the link below, which also discusses the club selling FA Cup goalscorers Roman Pavlyuchenko and Giovani Dos Santos.
Could Spurs be clearing the decks for a triple swoop of Hoilett, Ba, and Rhodes?
