A look at the day’s big transfer stories…
Petr Cech to Arsenal update
Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech is nearing a move to Arsenal, and SkySports report the stopper is due to undergo a medical at the Gunners early next week. The goalkeeper is said to have agreed personal terms in principle, with a £10.9 million fee agreed between the two Premier League competitors.
One in and one out at Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur are a step closer to selling Paulinho, with a surprise destination on the cards. The Telegraph report Spurs have a deal in place to sell the Brazilian to Chinese club Guangzhao Evergrande, recently managed by former World Cup winning boss Marcelo Lippi. Impressively the transfer could net Spurs £15 million, just a £2 million loss on the fee paid for him, when it had appeared it could be 10 times that.
Spurs are looking like favourites to sign Atletico Madrid defender Toby Alderweireld, with The Mirror reporting they are confident of a deal for last season’s Southampton loanee. The Belgian would become the club’s third defensive signing this summer, following Kevin Wimmer and Kieran Trippier.
Bayern sign Douglas
Bayern Munich have agreed a big money deal to sign Shakhtar Donetsk winger Douglas Costa, report German channel Sport 1. The German champions will pay £25 million to bring in the Brazilian international who had previously been linked with both Manchester United and Chelsea.
Offer accepted for Clyne
Liverpool’s spending spree is to continue, with the Reds meeting Southampton’s asking price for defender Nathaniel Clyne. The Guardian report the Saints have accepted an offer for the right-back, who has just one year remaining on his contract. Earlier this week Liverpool signed Hoffenheim attacker Roberto Firmino, and Clyne will become their sixth summer addition.
