According to Eurosport, Tottenham Hotspur have first refusal on signing Gareth Bale at the end of the season.
Bale returned to Tottenham on loan from Spanish and European giants Real Madrid in the summer of 2020.
The report published at 12pm today and written by Transfer Insider Dean Jones has claimed that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy negotiated a clause while striking a deal with Madrid that will see the North London club have the final refusal on the 31-year-old.
Big decision ahead
Bale is only just starting to come good, having struggled with fitness issues in the opening months of the season.
The 31-year-old is playing well at the moment, scoring goals, and linking up well with his fellow attackers.
One suspects that Spurs will not make a decision on the future of Bale right now, as there are a lot of factors at play, such as whether or not the team are in the Champions League next season.
It is encouraging that Tottenham have first refusal on Bale. If the winger helps the team finish in the Premier League top four and is happy to stay at the club, then Spurs could decide to make his move permanent.
According to WhoScored, Bale has scored five goals and provided two assists in six Premier League starts and has scored three goals and provided one assist in seven Europa League starts for Spurs so far this season.
