Manchester City, Aston Villa, Southampton, West Ham, Liverpool and Chelsea feature
27 Days to go until the transfer window opens. Here are a few of the developing stories….
1) Lovren under fire at Liverpool
Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren’s future at the club is already at risk, report The Mirror. The £20 million man has lost his place to Kolo Toure in recent weeks, and the paper claim even his teammates are unsure of him. Brendan Rodgers played him in the midweek draw to Basel, but if Liverpool were to even consider selling him, they would have to accept a loss on the Croatian.
2) Southampton want Mauro Zarate
West Ham attacker Mauro Zarate is wanted by Lovren’s former club Southampton, the same paper claims. Yet while the Argentine has slipped down the pecking order at the Hammers, letting him leave is looking like a no-go thanks to the fact Diafra Sakho will head to the African Nations Cup in January.
3) Papiss Cisse to Manchester City?
Manchester City are considering an eye-popping £20 million move for Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse, report The Star. The Senegalese striker has rediscovered his scoring touch this season, and the fee would represent a golden chance for Newcastle to sell high on a player who looked unconvincing last season. City are also considering Christian Benteke of Aston Villa and Saido Berahino of West Brom, the paper reports – each valued at around the same price. Meanwhile The Express claim that it is Wilfried Bony of Swansea who is high on their list of options.
4) Chelsea close on Hazard deal
Chelsea are closing on tying Eden Hazard to a new contract, report GetWestLondon. The club are keen to tie the Belgian down to a new five-year contract, with Jose Mourinho stating there are ‘no problems’ with negotiations. Real Madrid and PSG are keen, and it is claimed that wages of £200,000 per week are being prepared to keep Hazard at Chelsea.
