Real Madrid are again being linked with a bid for Tottenham’s Harry Kane.

Tottenham Hotspur fans will be all too aware of mounting speculation over Harry Kane’s future, but one report in Spain will have supporters scratching their heads.

Kane, 24, has continued his remarkable goalscoring feats, as having hit 35 goals in 38 games last season, the England international has set about eclipsing that, with a stunning record of 11 goals in just nine games this term.

With two more goals for England over the international break, Kane just can’t stop scoring – and rumours over Kane’s future are swirling, with Spanish giants Real Madrid being strongly linked with a move.

The latest rumour, emanating from Diario Gol, is that Real Madrid want to launch a huge bid for Kane, but are ready to offer one of three players in an attempt to bring the price down.

The three players named as potential makeweights are midfielder Luka Modric, winger Gareth Bale and striker Karim Benzema, but the rumour appears to be a little far-fetched.

Swap deals very rarely happen in football due to the complexity of the deals, and it seems unlikely that any of the players involved would accept being used in a deal for Kane, whilst Spurs may struggle to afford the wages of any of the three, given Daniel Levy’s tight handle on wages at Spurs.

Spurs fans may love the idea of Modric or Bale, two former Tottenham heroes, making a return to North London, but a part-exchange deal for either player seems difficult and complicated to pull off, even with Modric entering the final stages of his career.

Benzema may be somewhat more realistic after many years of being linked with a move to England, but with Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino preferring to work with and develop young players rather than signing big names, the notion of Spurs landing Bale, Benzema or Modric whilst giving up Kane simply seems unlikely.
