Celtic striker Moussa Dembele has been linked with a move away recently and, with that in mind, the Hoops should consider the West Bromwich Albion man.
As reported by the Scottish Sun, Celtic striker Moussa Dembele has emerged as a target for Borussia Dortmund this summer, following the end of Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi’s loan spell.
The Belgian is unlikely to return to Signal Iduna Park ahead of next season, and so Die Schwarzgelben are on the hunt for alternatives – and the 21-year-old certainly fits the bill.
Celtic will not want to lose Dembele for anything less than a colossal fee but, if Dortmund come up trumps, they may find themselves scrambling for a new striker and should look no further than West Bromwich Albion’s Salomon Rondon.
Rondon is allegedly available for transfer this summer and has a relatively low release clause of £16.5 million following the Baggies’ relegation from the Premier League last season. The Shields Gazette claim Newcastle United are still monitoring the 28-year-old so Celtic would have to be mindful of that.
The Venezuelan was by no means prolific in England’s top flight, but proved he knew where the goal was to some degree and has been an effective target man for the Midlands side.
He does not possess the same dynamic style as Dembele, but his physicality and hold up play could work very well in Scotland. By signing Rondon, Celtic would then likely have a good chunk of money left over from a Dembele sale to invest in other areas of the team while also ensuring they could cover the West Brom star’s wages.
