Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin wants to remain at Goodison Park for the 2018/19 season and has ruled out a move to potential suitors Bournemouth, but perhaps he is being a little too hasty.
There is a new double act in town at Goodison in the form of director of football Marcel Brands and Marco Silva as manager, and the club are being linked with a host of names this summer.
Calvert-Lewin featured heavily for Sam Allardyce when he first took over in November, starting eight of the former England manager’s first 10 matches at Everton, but he fell away in the second half of the campaign, starting just two more for the rest of the season.
His lack of game time coincided with the January arrival of Cenk Tosun for £27m from Beskitas, and the Mirror claim Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe is interested in the 21-year-old.
Howe is a known advocate for British youth and would likely find a way to afford Calvert-Lewin the regular game time he is no longer guaranteed at Everton. Josh King and Jermain Defoe have both been linked with moves away from the Vitality Stadium, meaning it could be a great move for the youngster.
It is an ideal time to make such a move; the former Sheffield United forward is still in the very early stages of his career and could benefit hugely from developing under Howe as a regular for a few years before potentially getting a move to a big club.
