The 18-year-old starred for the Magpies after coming on against Crystal Palace.

Newcastle United might just have a serious talent in Rolando Aarons.

The young winger came off the bench for Alan Pardew’s side on Saturday and, within six minutes of his arrival, he had scored a vital goal for the hosts.

That didn’t stop Newcastle from dropping two points at home during a 3-3 draw with Crystal Palace.

Aarons, though, has given his supporters something to smile about.

“There’s just something about him,” Pardew told reporters after the eventful 3-3 draw.

“I have given a lot of really good players a debut – Jonjo Shelvey, Mark Noble, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain spring to mind – and I would put him in that category, where he is right now but those guys see it through and that’s what he needs to do.

“He really has been a real bonus for us this pre-season and at the start of the season.”

Aarons himself, meanwhile, was delighted with his game-changing substitute appearance.

And Newcastle fans, it seems, have taken just as much of a shine to him as his manager.

Indeed, according to many Magpies supporters, the 18-year-old was their only positive from today’s game.

Some have also stated that Pardew must now start the winger, following poor performances from many of his contemporaries.
