The Dutchman is to become available after reportedly cancelling his contract with Sporting CP but what chance a move to Newcastle United?

Newcastle United supporters have taken to Twitter to react to reports linking Bas Dost with a move to St. James’ Park, and the majority appear bored by the notion, since his name has come up in previous windows.
As reported by Portuguese newspaper Record, Dost is one of four players filing to terminate his contract with Sporting, after the team was inexplicably attacked at a training session in May following defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Europa League.

Goalkeeper Rui Patricio has already left, and following him and Dost out the exit could be Gelson Martins, William Carvalho and Bruno Fernandes.
The 29-year-old enjoyed a tremendous season in Liga Nos last term, banging in 27 goals in 30 appearances, but the mood regarding his links over a switch to Newcastle is surprisingly cynical, given he could be on the move for free.

The fact of the matter is, Dost’s goal record was highly impressive in Portugal, and he has also been prolific in the Bundesliga and the Dutch Eredivise earlier in his career.
Here are some takes online from Newcastle supporters, who have simply grown too used to the idea of potentially signing Dost, which is obscuring the reality of the link. In truth, it is a very exciting one.
