How Norwich midfielder could fit into Harry Redknapp’s plans next term

QPR are reportedly one of four clubs interested in Robert Snodgrass.

According to Sky Sports, the Norwich midfielder will not be renewing his contract – which has a year left to run – with the Championship club and wants to return to the English top flight.

Four clubs – Sunderland, West Brom, Hull City and QPR – are reportedly set to battle it out to sign the 26-year-old and are all willing to meet Norwich’s terms.

Snodgrass will be the master of his own fate, then, with the highest bidder or the club he feels most welcome at likely to land his signature.

What, though, will the Scot bring to Queens Park Rangers?

As Opta stats show, Snodgrass delivered the third-highest tally of accurate crosses of anyone in the Premier League last season.

Just two behind Samir Nasri, the Norwich man created numerous chances with his crossing ability and also scored six times.

With the ball at feet, Snodgrass also beat his man a total of 31 times, a favourable comparison with most other midfielders who delivered a similar number of crosses.

The 26-year-old could, then, be an ideal signing for the Harry Redknapp way of playing football. And should he make the move to Loftus Road, it could spark another signing as well – that of a target man.

Redknapp has inevitably been linked with a move for Peter Crouch this summer, while Tony Fernandes will be likely to back the club in the hunt for a new forward if Loic Remy, as expected, completes a move away from west London.

Should QPR keep faith with Charlie Austin and Bobby Zamora, however, Snodgrass’ arrival will be equally effective, with the 24 and 33-year-olds both providing a notable aerial threat.
