Harry Winks made a few appearances last season but the door could be about to open for the Tottenham Hotspur youngster if Dembele leaves.

Reports are gathering pace that Mousa Dembele is set to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer, and that could mean another chance for Harry Winks to stake his claim under Mauricio Pochettino.

As reported by Sky Italia (h/t Football Italia), the midfield maestro is the subject of interest from Inter, Juventus, with the former having supposedly lodged an official bid of £8.8million.

Apparently Spurs want around £26million for the 30-year-old so the Nerazzurri are way off at this point, but the Old Lady are likely to bid closer to that figure.

Should Juventus be successful in their pursuit of Dembele, it could mean another chance for Winks, who made a big impact last season in both the Premier League and the Champions League as he deputised for the injured Belgian and Victor Wanyama.

The 22-year-old made 16 league appearances for Tottenham in 2017/18, and 21 in the season before that, and he has shown glimpses of his ability to play at the highest level in his fledgling career. Dembele, Wanyama and Eric Dier have all been fantastic under Pochettino, but Winks could find himself being handed more opportunities to continue his Spurs development if the former is sold.

It is clear Tottenham think highly of Winnks after they handed him a five-year contract extension last month, as do the fans.

There is no doubt the technical Winks was progressing fantastically up until he suffered an ankle injury, and he should surely be enough to discourage Pochettino from signing a replacement and instead prompt him to invest in other areas of the team.
