Arsenal will allegedly hold talks with Ever Banega, but Tottenham Hotspur should be challenging for the midfielder with Mousa Dembele set to leave.
The 29-year-old play-maker has allegedly been identified as a potential replacement for Jack Wilshere, who yesterday confirmed that he would be leaving the club on expiration of his current contract.
Banega is an experienced, intelligent central midfielder whose game revolves around strong technical play and passing from deep and, with Wilshere leaving, he seems like a decent option to fill the void.
Across the city though, Tottenham, who are yet to sign anybody this summer, face losing a star of their own in Mousa Dembele, who has been strongly linked with a move away.
And it begs the question: should Tottenham join the race for Banega to soften the blow of losing Dembele if, of course, that move comes to fruition.
Banega, who is also handy on set pieces, would make a great squad player at the very least for Tottenham, with Mauricio Pochettino currently only able to call on Victor Wanyama, Eric Dier and Harry Winks, aside from Dembele.
His experience would also come in handy for a Spurs side full of youth and desperate to bring some silverware back to North London.
