Rangers’ U-19 side have been drawn with Spanish giants Sevilla in the knockout stage of the UEFA Youth League.
The Young Bears made it to the last-16 of the competition after claiming big wins in the first and second round of the Youth League. Rangers’ Scotland U-18 title win last season meant that the Gers qualified for UEFA’s top development tournament.
And Rangers have been in fine form in the Youth League, with the Scottish giants beating Hammarby 5-1 on aggregate in the first round before sweeping Bulgarian side Septemvri Sofia 7-2 in the next stage.
Indeed, the competition has proven to be a good opportunity for many of Rangers’ young talents to showcase their qualities, and now, a fixture against Sevilla awaits them in the Round of 16.
The La Liga side finished second in their group with RB Salzburg taking the top spot. And a match against Sevilla will be a great test for Rangers, with the Andalusian side one of the best in all of Spain.
The one-off tie will take place in Glasgow in February, and Rangers fans on social media are excited that the U-19s will take on a historic side with a rich history of youth development in Sevilla.
