According to The Mirror, Liverpool are interested in signing Victor Wanyama from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2018.

While it remains to be seen if Tottenham will be open to entertaining any offers for the former Celtic star, there is no doubt that signing the defensive midfielder would take Liverpool to a whole new level.

Wanyama has struggled with injury this season and has made only two starts in the Premier League, but when fit and in form, the Kenya international is one of the best defensive midfielders around.

The 26-year-old was a huge success during his time at Southampton, and he would fit perfectly into the current Liverpool team.

A no-nonsense combative midfielder, Wanyama would provide strength and defensive steel in the midfield, and allow the attack-minded players to do much more than they are at the moment.

The 26-year-old is a good tackler and makes important challenges, and his presence in front of the back-four would also make Liverpool defence stronger.

Tottenham, though, may not be willing to part company with Wanyama, but Liverpool should at least make an approach and make a bid in the summer of 2018.
