Tottenham star Victor Wanyama has proven to be a vitally important player for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, since joining the club from Southampton in the summer of 2016.

Pochettino has used the Kenyan sparingly since his return from a long-term injury at the start of the year, but he remains a vital cog in the Spurs machine.

According to the Mirror, though, Wanyama is demanding a new contract from the Lilywhites, amidst reported interest from Manchester United and Liverpool.

The 26-year-old is under contract with Tottenham until the summer of 2021, and currently earns £70,000, according to the Daily Star.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has proven himself to be one of the most stubborn negotiators in the game, however, and Wanyama should be wary of going into battle with him.

Toby Alderweireld is another Tottenham player who has demanded a new contract recently, and the Times report that the north London outfit will be willing to let him go, rather than bow down to his demands.

Toby Alderweireld #4 of Tottenham Hotspur passes the ball in the second half against Roma during the International Champions Cup on July 25, 2017 at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey.

Take note Victor Wanyama.

The Lilywhites will not be held to ransom by any player, and with the current strength-in-depth in the midfield department at Spurs, the Kenya international could be fighting a losing battle.

These are exciting times to be involved with Tottenham, and Wanyama should take that into consideration, before demanding improved terms on hs current deal with the club.
