Tottenham Hotspur were held to a draw by West Ham United last night.
Spurs ace Son Heung-min spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s disappointing draw with the Hammers in the Premier League last night, and opened up on how a conversation he shared with Hugo Lloris at half-time proved to be an inspiration behind his wonder goal, as quoted by the club’s official website.
The South Korean has proven to be somewhat of a revelation for Tottenham this season, and he has chipped in with 10 goals and three assists in 28 appearances in all competitions thus far.
The Lilywhites, though, have enjoyed a mediocre campaign domestically, and currently sit in fifth position in the Premier League table, three points adrift of fourth placed Liverpool.
Son and co would have been desperately disappointed with last night’s draw – a result that will go down as a huge blow to their hopes of securing Champions League football for next season.
The 25-year-old spoke to reporters after the game, and disclosed a conversation that he shared with Hugo Lloris and goalkeeping coach Toni Jimenez, as quoted by TottenhamHotspur.com:
“At half-time Hugo and Toni (Jimenez, GK coach) said to me as West Ham are sitting so deep, try to hit a shot because it’s so difficult for a goalkeeper. I listened to them and just hit it. I’m happy to score, of course, but I’m really sad for one point.”
Next up for Tottenham is their FA Cup clash with AFC Wimbledon on Sunday, and Mauricio Pochettino will surely freshen up his starting line-up with a succession of important Premier League games on the horizon.
