New interim Tottenham Hotspur boss Ryan Mason isn’t paying attention to Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea move.

Spurs decided to sack interim manager Cristian Stellini on Monday evening having lost 6-1 at Newcastle United.

Tottenham seem to be in a complete mess and it’s now down to Mason to try and steady the ship.

The former Spurs midfielder is back in the hot seat until the end of the season having fulfilled a similar role in 2021.

Mason takes the reins at Tottenham just as Mauricio Pochettino makes a somewhat controversial move to Chelsea.

Spurs fans have been chanting for Pochettino to be brought back at the club’s new manager.

Pochettino was sacked by Tottenham in 2019 but supporters still love him and want him back in the dugout.

Daniel Levy and co seemingly don’t share that view though and aren’t even trying to tempt Pochettino back to North London.

Pochettino now looks set to become Chelsea manager instead, as a move to Tottenham’s London rivals now seems close.

Spurs fans are completely baffled about the whole situation but Mason is trying to stay focused.

Ryan Mason comments on Mauricio Pochettino to Chelsea

Mason was asked about Pochettino at today’s press conference ahead of Tottenham’s clash with Manchester United.

Mason told Football London that he feels he doesn’t really feel a need to adjust to the idea of Pochettino managing the Blues.

The Spurs interim boss noted that he won’t pay attention to the rumours or news about Pochettino, instead focusing just on Tottenham.

Mason preached full concentration on results for Spurs, rather than getting caught up in what everyone else is doing.

“From my point of view, no. The focus is on inside here,” said Mason. “We won’t listen to and look at the outside noise. Because there’s going to be outside noise. We have to focus on our job and our job is to get results on football pitch, and my feeling is that comes from the training ground so that’s our only focus right now,” he added.

The Pochettino situation will hurt Tottenham fans but Mason has the right approach – forget about Chelsea, forget about Pochettino, concentrate on three points against Manchester United and attempt to get the season back on track once and for all.
