Tottenham Hotspur have been on an indifferent run of form lately. The festive period could be the making or breaking of their season.
In times of trouble many fans hope for an easy run of fixtures in order to allow their team to get back on the winning trail. Thankfully for Tottenham Hotspur, it would appear from the outside looking in like that is exactly the case, but things are a touch more complicated than that.

Tottenham are preparing for a big double header against relegation candidates Hull and Burnley, but it’s worth noting their history in these situations. Over the last few years Spurs have been victims of home defeats against lowly opposition, and given their recent run of form this is going to be a huge test for both Pochettino and the players.
With their recent failures against bigger sides this would seem to be the perfect opportunity for them to strike back against their critics, but their confidence has surely taken a big hit. Six points will be considered the minimum requirement but given some of the results the Tigers and the Clarets have pulled out of the bag so far this season, it appears as if it will not be that simple.
With their final game of 2016 then being a trip to Pochettino’s former club Southampton, who beat Spurs at home in May as the North Londoners slipped towards an eventual third spot, it’s fair to say that this is going to be a vital period in Tottenham’s season.
The positive among Tottenham’s fanbase will point to the fact Spurs have more points than they had this time last year, and also mention that between December 19 and February 28 they won nine out of 11 Premier League matches – the catalyst of their title challenge last season.
A bad festive run can make or break a team’s momentum, and logic would suggest this should be a profitable time for the North London side.
