Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Ryan Sessegnon from Fulham, with The Mirror reporting they are confident of doing a deal.

Sessegnon has broken into Fulham’s first team this season and is one of the top prospects in English football.

The 16-year-old has made an instant impression for the Championship side, with The Mirror‘s report indicating Spurs believe they will beat competition from Liverpool to sign him.

Sessegnon would not go straight into the Tottenham first team, with England international left-back Danny Rose the clear first choice.

But his arrival could cloud the future of Ben Davies, who has underwhelmed since signing from Swansea City in 2014, unable to establish himself in the first team.

He has not impressed during Rose’s injury enforced absence, partially culpable for the goals conceded in the 2-1 Champions League loss to Monaco, and was dropped for Eric Dier in the win over Sunderland.

During this period, Davies has been linked with a surprise move to Chelsea by The Sun, due to the fact he can play in the back three and also help meet a British player quota.

While there is immediate hesitance over whether Tottenham would sell to a rival, their reported interest in Sessegon adds credence to the prospect of Davies being moved on.

The teenage Fulham ace would not benefit from moving to the club to become third choice, and whether the deal is done in January or next summer, his arrival would likely mean an exit for Tottenham’s Welsh international.
