Tottenham boss comments on Liverpool comparisons.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino during a Media Briefing at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on April 02, 2019 in London, England.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino says the club now have a better stadium and training ground than Liverpool.

Spurs lost 2-1 to the Reds at the weekend, their second defeat to Jurgen Klopp’s side this season.

Pochettino hopes that Tottenham’s advantage off the pitch will translate to success on it.

Quoted by news agency France 24, Pochettino said: “I was talking with Daniel after the Liverpool game and sometimes people compare us with Liverpool. (Virgil) Van Dijk was £75 million 18 months ago. The keeper (Allison) was £70 million.

“They had two midfielders on the bench who they spent more than £100 million on in the summer.

“The people sometimes say an opinion of Tottenham is like Liverpool. In what? Yes, now we are going to be better than Liverpool because we have a better stadium and better training ground.

“But now is another thing to compete as we need to operate maybe similar to them in the future or not. We will see which is the project.”

Pochettino is challenging the Spurs board to spend big like Liverpool have done.

If they do, he believes the cornerstones for success are in place for Tottenham to win trophies.

Spurs are in the Premier League top four, despite not signing a single player over the past year.

It’s a remarkable feat, and now they will be even stronger with a potential spending spree behind them.

Liverpool might need to watch out next season.
