Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro really struggled as Spain suffered a shock defeat against Scotland on Tuesday night.

Pedro Porro questioned by Spanish media

Porro started as a right back in a four-man defence for Spain but he endured a tough night in Glasgow.

An early slip from Porro allowed Scotland to get in and score through Scott McTominay.

Porro attempted a dive and embarrassed himself before being hooked at half time in favour of Dani Carvajal.

This was a miserable night for Porro and Spain as a whole as McTominay added another to seal a 2-0 Scotland win.

The Spanish media were not impressed with Tottenham man Porro.

Sport rated Porro at just three out of 10, suggesting that he ‘missed a lot of passes’ and didn’t offer any defensive security.

Mundo Deportivo noted that this was Porro’s second cap for Spain but things didn’t improve for him.

They noted Porro’s slip but felt the Tottenham man did actually recover well before being substituted.

Given that Porro only played 45 minutes, Marca didn’t even give him a rating.

Does Porro suit a back four?

This performance may leave some wondering whether Porro can play as a right back in a flat back four.

The Spaniard excelled with Sporting playing mostly as a wing back, which sparked Tottenham’s interest.

Antonio Conte wanted a natural right wing back and got one in Porro in a deal worth a total of £44million.

Porro has shown some attacking quality in his early weeks at Tottenham and looks at home as a wing back.

Yet with Conte now gone, some will wonder if Porro can make the switch to playing as a right back.

Similar questions will be asked of inbound Destiny Udogie too, and having recruited wing backs for Conte, Tottenham may be tempted to appoint another manager who plays with wing backs.
