Ramon Vega has claimed on Twitter that Tottenham Hotspur haven’t made initial contact with Sporting Lisbon coach, Ruben Amorim.

Daniel Levy is in the market for a new manager for next season after firing Antonio Conte, then booting out his assistant Cristian Stellini weeks later, with Ryan Mason now holding the struggling Tottenham fort.

In truth, nothing much has changed, with Spurs still producing abject performances.

Without a manager and also without a sporting director, it’s been claimed the latter is problematic in Tottenham’s manager hunt because it has put off one of their top targets, Julian Nagelsmann.

As a result, Spurs have had to look elsewhere and the upcoming Ruben Amorim has been spoken about – it’s been suggested that Spurs have reached out to him.

But, according to former Spurs man Vega, who has been outspoken about the club on social media, it’s not going to happen even though the 38-year-old plays ‘great attractive football’.

‘Unfortunately, this one is not true,” Vega posted on Twitter. “Personally, I think he will be a great choice. I was just recently in Lisbon to watch Sporting/Juve. Some great attractive football Sporting played under Ruben.”

AMORIM WOULD BE A STRONG CHOICE

This isn’t the first time that Amorim has been linked with jobs in England, which suggests that he is highly-admired in the footballing world.

Prior to Aston Villa bringing in the European expert, Unai Emery, there were talks that Amorim was one of their targets.

There were even claims that he held talks with Chelsea before they appointed the now-sacked Graham Potter, so it does seem as thought it will only be a matter of time before he does join the best league in the world.
