Alex Pritchard and Chuks Aneke were on the score-sheet for Swindon Town and Crewe Alexandra respectively this weekend.

Two stars from North London tipped for a bright future in the game have had a goalscoring weekend.

First of all, Tottenham Hotspur’s ‘next David Beckham’, Alex Pritchard.

The comparisons are quite obvious. The English creative midfielder is blonde and has a fantastic delivery on him – as well as a deadly propensity from dead-ball situations.

His performances for Spurs in the NextGen Series last season truly caught the eye and earned a loan spell to Peterborough United toward the end of the season.

Unfortunately injury meant he barely made an impact at the club – so this season he was sent on loan to Swindon Town, who have taken plenty of Spurs players in the past.

And yesterday he bagged a goal that Beckham would have been proud of against Carlisle United yesterday.

He struck a free kick from 25 yards in true Golden Balls style on Saturday in a 3-1 victory for The Robins.

But he wasn’t the only North London loanee bagging a goal in League One this weekend, and not the only one compared to a famous name either.

Chuks Aneke was once dubbed ‘a bit like Yaya Toure’ by Arsene Wenger and has spent the last season and a bit on loan with Crewe Alexandra. Last term he helped them win the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy – and this term is fighting to save them from relegation back to League Two.

And yesterday he scored a vital goal for The Railwaymen.

He beat the offside trap to find himself in on goal before directing a diving header beyond the onrushing keeper as Crewe claimed a vital 1-0 win over managerless Crawley Town.

Who knows what the future holds for these two North London starlets given big boots to fill.

But a few more weekends like this will certainly do them well.
