The Tottenham Hotspur star looks reborn this season.

Moussa Sissoko has admitted that he had a ‘very good’ performance for Tottenham Hotspur last night, but suggested that he is a limited player.

The France international played 90 minutes as Spurs beat Manchester City 1-0 in the first leg of a Champions League quarter-final.

Sissoko’s surging runs are becoming legendary for Tottenham in what’s been an incredible breakthrough season for him on a personal level.

The former Newcastle star endured two poor seasons in North London, but Mauricio Pochettino seems to have transformed him this time around.

The 29-year-old is just as effective without the ball as he is in possession, and Sissoko himself concedes that he isn’t the most technical player in the world.

He told RMC Sport: “I am happy with my match, I was very good I think, like the rest of the team. I am happy for me, I have come a long way.

“I have had two difficult seasons here, I have continued to work.

“I know that I am not the most technical player, the best player in the world, but I play with the qualities that I have. I have never taken myself to be someone I am not.”

Perhaps it is becoming aware of his limitations which has allowed the Frenchman to produce on a consistent level for Tottenham.

He was never all that consistent for Newcastle, and to this day Sissoko – then a winger – remains something of a villanous figure on Tyneside for dazzling in Euro 2016, months after doing little to help Newcastle in their relegation battle.

But this turnaround in fortunes has to be respected and it just goes to show how far hard work and a solid attitude can get you.
