This weekend the Premier League’s top two go head-to-head at White Hart Lane as Tottenham Hotspur take on Manchester City with both sides’ undefeated streaks under threat.

Spurs will be boosted by home advantage and the fact that they have three vital Champions League points under their belts after their victory against CSKA Moscow, while City will not want another defensive capitulation as was seen in the 3-3 draw against Celtic the following day.

Key for City will be summer signing Ilkay Gundogan, who has been brilliant for the Blues since recovering from injury, but Tottenham have the player to nullify the German international’s threat in the form of Mousa Dembele.

The Belgian was sorely missed by Tottenham at the start of the campaign, but now he has returned from suspension he has quickly set about proving his worth to Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Gundogan may not have the flare of a Kevin De Bruyne or a David Silva; however the former Borussia Dortmund player is vital for City boss Pep Guardiola. He passes, dribbles and dictates a game like few others and Tottenham will need to ensure he does not take control of the midfield from the outset.

The player to help in that regard is Dembele, himself a player with the ability to hassle and harry with the best of them.

The Tottenham star needs to get his foot in and upset Gundogan’s rhythm while running the show himself in his own backyard.

If he can do that, Tottenham have a great chance of sealing the three points and inflicting City’s first defeat of the campaign.
