Mauricio Pochettino has been criticised for picking Michel Vorm over Hugo Lloris for Saturday’s FA Cup loss to Man United.

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Michel Vorm has told the club’s official website that he deserved to start over Hugo Lloris despite being partly to blame for Spurs’ 2-1 loss to Manchester United on Saturday.
The 34-year-old was guilty of allowing Ander Herrera’s low second-half strike to fly underneath him, which proved to be the winning goal as Spurs were sent crashing out of the FA Cup by Jose Mourinho’s men.
The former Swansea City stopper had played in all previous six FA Cup ties for Pochettino’s men, and was given the nod ahead of club captain Lloris in a move that perhaps backfired.

But Vorm spoke after the match, stating that he felt as though he deserved to start over Lloris between the sticks. He also spoke of how Spurs’ defeat in the FA Cup had left him disappointed, as it came “to and end”.
“I played through the tournament and I think I’ve done alright,” Vorm said. “I train hard every day and if I get the chance to play a semi-final like this that gives me the confidence but it’s also something I think I deserve in the way I act as a professional and as a team-mate and a person.
“I enjoyed every moment and it’s a shame it’s come to an end.”

The 15-time Holland international has just a matter of weeks remaining on his current contract in north London, and is expected to leave on a free transfer rather than signing a new deal with Spurs.
In what could have been his last chance to earn a new deal, Vorm may be forced to look for a new club this summer with Paulo Gazzanigga expected to jump from third to second choice goalkeeper.
