Jan Vertonghen is closing in on a return to full fitness for Tottenham Hotspur.

Speaking to Football London, Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has hailed the ‘very good news’ about Jan Vertonghen’s fitness status.
Spurs host Chelsea at Wembley this evening in what is sure to be an intense London derby.
The Tottenham centre-back has missed nearly two months of first-team action through injury.
And although Pochettino is undecided over whether the Belgian will return against the Blues, he’s delighted to have him back training with the group.
“There’s still one day more but it’s very good news that he’s involved again with the group,” Pochettino said to Football London when asked if Vertonghen will play.
“In the last two weeks he was training very well and now we wait to wait until tomorrow and decide if we believe he can be involved for Saturday.”
What a big game it is for Tottenham tonight.
They were unbeaten at home during the 2016-17 campaign, making White Hart Lane an absolute fortress, but they haven’t been quite as formidable at Wembley.
Pochettino’s side could be eight points behind top-of-the-table Manchester City by kickoff against Chelsea, so victory over Maurizio Sarri’s side is essential, while Liverpool may be six ahead.
It’s a massive week for the Lilywhites, who then visit North London rivals Arsenal next Sunday. It’s an eight-day period which could potentially decide their Premier League title fate and the sooner Vertonghen is back, the better.
