Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, will reportedly be given a massive transfer war-chest to sign players according to his own choice.
The Spaniard is keen to bolster his squad in the summer with homegrown talents, and Tottenham Hotspur duo – Danny Rose and Kyle Walker – are reportedly at the top of his wish list.
According to reports from the Manchester Evening News, City are ready to spend £200m on signing new players this summer. James Robson of the Manchester Evening News suggested on Twitter that Walker would be the most attainable.
Guardiola has always built his team around strong full-backs. At City, he only has options that are past their best. In that respect, both Walker and Rose would be a massive upgrade on the existing lot.
Walker has been absolutely outstanding this season for Spurs. With 2.2 tackles per game and 1.3 interception, according to whoscored.com, Walker has been a reliable presence at the back for the side that have the best defensive record in the league.
However, it is his aggressive nature while going forward, darting runs, intensity, and the ability to pick the right player with fine deliveries that has made him one of the best full-backs in the Premier League this season.
While Spurs would be reluctant to lose a player of his ability, City would surely try to lure him away from White Hart Lane with a lucrative salary offer. Whether or not they will get him remains to be seen, but there is no doubt that Walker would add depth and quality to this City’s squad.
