Ademola Lookman came on as a substitute during Everton’s 0-0 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon, and Tottenham Hotspur defender Kyle Walker-Peters has applauded the attacker on Instagram.
Lookman, 21, has cut a frustrated figure at Goodison Park this season under Marco Silva, struggling for game time despite his impressive loan spell with German outfit RB Leipzig.
The England youth international was the subject of huge interest from the German side over a permanent deal in the summer, with Sky Sports reporting that Leipzig had a £25million bid rejected by The Toffees in August.
Instead, Lookman was kept on Merseyside by Everton, and has been fighting for scraps with just 130 minutes of Premier League action to his name. Walker-Peters sent a defiant message to Lookman, after the latter posted on Instagram.
Walker-Peters and Lookman have both been called up by Aidy Boothroyd to England’s Under-21 side for the trips to Denmark and Italy this month, after the Young Lions qualified for the 2019 European Championships.
Spurs man Walker-Peters is in a similar boat to Lookman at Spurs, with the full-back managing just one appearance under Mauricio Pochettino this season in the Carabao Cup victory over West Ham last month.
