The Tottenham Hotspur youngster impressed against APOEL in the Champions League last night.
Spurs ace Juan Foyth spoke to reporters after making his Champions League debut for the club against APOEL last night, labelling the experience as ‘amazing’, as quoted by the club’s official website.
The 19-year-old joined Tottenham from Argentinian side Estudiantes in the summer, for a fee believed to be in region of £8 million, but has played a peripheral role for Mauricio Pochettino’s side thus far, making just three appearances in all competitions.
Foyth is obviously a classy performer, however, and was brought to the club by Poch with one eye on the future, rather than for the here and now.
The centre-back made his debut in Europe’s premier competition last night, and told reporters how it was a dream come true for him, as quoted by TottenhamHotspur.com:
“I really enjoyed the game, my first one in the Champions League, so I’m really happy. You know, the Champions League is one of the best competitions in the world. In Argentina it was always a dream to come (to Europe) and play in the competition. I saw the Champions League on the TV and now it’s a reality for me. It’s amazing really. Before the game you are lining up, you listen to the music and it’s amazing – a very special feeling.”
Whether he will be given too many more opportunities by his manager this season remains to be seen, but he proved last night that he is more than capable of producing the goods at the very highest level.
And with Toby Alderweireld still out injured, there might very well be more chances ahead for Foyth.
