Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has told France Football that he can’t rule out a potential move to Major League Soccer in the near future.

Lloris joined Spurs from Lyon in his native France way back in 2012, meaning he’s now been with the club for more than seven years.

The 32-year-old has now played more than 300 times for Tottenham, establishing himself as one of the top goalkeepers in Europe during his time in North London.

Lloris has though been through ups and downs in the last 18 months, both for club and country, but he’s kept his place under Mauricio Pochettino.

Lloris – who earns £100,000-a-week at Spurs (Spotrac) – still has three years left on his contract, but he’s now talked up a potential move to the United States.

Speaking back in France, Lloris suggested United States as his potential next destination, admitting that he isn’t against the idea of discovering something completely new.

Heading to Major League Soccer would be a bold move having spent his entire career in Europe, but Lloris refused to rule out leaving Tottenham in the near future, admitting football is changing so fast.

“You have to know how to say stop at the right time, but I’m not against the idea of discovering something new,” said Lloris. “But it can also be the United States for example. I do not know. I always had trouble looking at the medium term. I am more focused on the short term. In football, things are changing so fast. We are here, tomorrow, we are elsewhere,” he added.

It may now be wise for Spurs to look for an heir to Lloris, as Paulo Gazzaniga is unlikely to be that player, with a view to signing a new goalkeeper in 2020.
