Tottenham are reportedly keen on Eric Bailly.

Tottenham Hotspur were reported by The Mirror last week to be keen on signing Manchester United centre-back Eric Bailly.

Bailly has been blamed by United boss Jose Mourinho ever since the Red Devils’ loss at Brighton and has not started a Premier League game since.

Did Mourinho respond to The Mirror‘s report by selecting Bailly to show his faith in the defender? Not a chance. He delivered the biggest snub of his reign so far.

The United boss left Bailly on the bench to face West Ham and chose to pick young midfielder Scott McTominay in central defence – despite him not starting a single game all season.

United lost 3-1, and it was the second time his decision to pick a midfielder instead of Bailly had backfired, with Ander Herrera selected against Spurs.

If the transfer window was open now, Tottenham would be smart to slap down an immediate bid to rescue the £30 million centre-back.

Instead they must wait it out until January. Their chances will depend on Jose Mourinho keeping his job.

Tottenham fans will be laughing if Mourinho gets fired over the coming weeks. But if he does, their chances of signing Bailly could disappear with it.
