Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly been tracking the Lazio ace all summer long.

Ciro Immobile of SS lazio celebrates a fourth goal during the serie A match between SS Lazio and UC Sampdoria at Stadio Olimpico on April 22, 2018 in Rome, Italy.

According to a report from Italian publication Calcio Mercato, Ciro Immobile is close to agreeing terms on a new contract with Lazio, in news that will be a blow to Tottenham’s hopes of signing the Italian striker.

Spurs were interested in signing the £45 million-rated Lazio hitman earlier this year, according to the Mirror, after extensively scouting the Italy international.

It seems that Tottenham’s hopes of bringing Immobile to White Hart Lane this summer could be well and truly dashed, however.

Italian publication Calcio Mercato claims that the 28-year-old is on the verge of signing a new deal with the Serie A outfit that would see him remain in the Italian capital until 2021.

Immobile was on fire for Lazio last season, scoring 41 goals in 47 appearances in all competitions, and he firmly established himself as one of the continent’s most deadly strikers.

The Italian would have been an exceptional signing for Tottenham, but it seems as if Mauricio Pochettino will now have to focus his attention elsewhere, as he continues his search for an established striker to provide more competition for Harry Kane.
