The Tottenham Hotspur player has not performed to his full potential for much of this season.

Tottenham Hotspur welcome KAA Gent to Wembley this evening with a 1-0 deficit to overcome, and while the onus will be on Harry Kane to follow up his hat-trick against Fulham with another goal-scoring appearance tonight, there is another Spurs player who needs to up his game in Europe.

Heung-min Son has featured at some point for all seven of Tottenham’s European games this season but a goal against CSKA Moscow aside he has done little of note.

It is easy to pile the pressure on Kane and fellow striker Vincent Janssen, but Son is a goal-scorer too and he needs to prove that with a solid and impactful performance against Gent.

It is one thing filling your boots in the FA Cup and quite another performing on the European stage and Tottenham’s South Korean international will know he has under-performed in the latter this season.

Tottenham should have enough to overcome a spirited Gent side on ‘home’ soil, but they need their creative catalysts to step up and that includes Son.
