Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks has been called into the England squad for the upcoming break.

Harry Winks has taken to Twitter to send out an emotional message after the Tottenham midfielder was named amongst Gareth Southgate’s squad for England’s upcoming games with Croatia and Spain.
Winks was one of a number of players brought into the squad by Southgate, but it was hardly a surprise selection following the midfielder’s excellent performance during Tottenham’s Champions League clash with Barcelona on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old may feel that the call-up represents the end of an incredibly tough spell. He went into this season having not played for Mauricio Pochettino’s side since the 6-1 FA Cup thrashing of Rochdale in February due to a persistent ankle injury.
He has returned to the fold this term and looks to be edging back towards his best. And he has been rewarded for his return by being one of five Spurs players named in the Three Lions’ squad.

He will be looking to add to his one cap for his country, which came in a man of the match display against Lithuania last year. And with Southgate not naming the most experienced cluster of midfield options, it would be no surprise if he did feature at some stage across the two games.
And in reaction to the news, Winks has taken to social media to reflect on the past year and express his excitement about linking up with the national team once again.

Here is what Winks had to say on Twitter…
