The Tottenham Hotspur youngster has a minor injury and will not be turning out for the Three Lions this month.
Tottenham Hotspur player Harry Winks has taken to Twitter to express his frustration after missing out on England duty.
The 21-year-old impressed for the Three Lions last month and had been hoping to build on that encouraging start. However an ankle problem has seen him withdraw from the party for the upcoming friendlies against Germany and Brazil.
Those games would have given the Tottenham youngster the ideal chance to prove his worth against some of the best players in world football and he is clearly disappointed not to be involved.
“Absolutely gutted I can’t be with the England squad for the upcoming games,” Winks wrote on Tuesday morning. “Focus is on getting fit.”
The midfielder started the campaign as a bit-part player for Tottenham but he has since proved himself invaluable, racking up 13 appearances in all competitions and starting the last five Premier League matches and the last three Champions League games, including the double-header against Real Madrid.
In short, Winks is now a star for club and country and it is a shame he will not get the chance to prove himself against the current world champions and Neymar and co.
There will be plenty more chances in the years ahead and Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino will be desperate to have his player fit when the domestic action returns later this month.
