Three months ago, this writer compared Winks to Xavi, suggesting that in time the youngster has everything in his locker to become just as effective for Tottenham as the Spaniard was for Barcelona in his pomp, and the signs continue to point in that direction.
Winks is a pass-master who has the innate ability to control the game, find a teammate and ensure proceedings run through them from the moment they enter the field.
When you consider Winks is only 20, there is the distinct prospect that in a few years Tottenham could have a central midfielder the envy of the world.
