Harry Kane has told Tottenham Hotspur’s official website that he plans to reach 100 Premier League goals quicker than he reached the 50 mark.

The 23-year-old scored the fourth goal in Tottenham’s 4-0 demolition at Stoke City on Saturday – a satisfying goal for two reasons.

Not only was it Kane’s 50th Premier League goal, but it was also the marksman’s first in some 11 games for club and country.

Despite his barren spell, it was never taken out of context like it was at the beginning of last season, with the England striker winning the Premier League’s Golden Boot in spite of the fact he went nine matches without finding the net.

This is only Kane’s third season in Tottenham’s senior set-up, and the young hitman says that he hopes to hit the next 50 in an even quicker time than the first half-century.

Tottenham's Dele Alli celebrates scoring their third goal

“A couple of years ago, if someone would have said to me ‘you’ll have 50 Premier League goals for Spurs’ I would have taken that quite happily,” he said to the Lilywhites’ official website

“It’s a great achievement and makes me even hungrier to get to that next mark.

“I’ll keep working hard, try to keep scoring and make those landmarks as we go along. I want to score goals for Spurs and the more the better. Fifty in the Premier League is a great achievement and here’s to the next 50, preferably even quicker!”

Spurs fans will love Kane’s confidence. When you’re not scoring, confidence and belief takes a dip, but the striker seems upbeat about scoring goals once again.

Tottenham will need Kane firing on all cylinders if they want to make waves in the Champions League again.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side kick off their campaign at Wembley for the visit of Monaco on Wednesday night – their first game in the competition for over five years.
