Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane told the club’s official website at his delight to return to the side, after scoring a penalty to earn a 1-1 draw with Arsenal in the North London derby.
Kane had been out for almost two months with an ankle injury suffered in the win against Sunderland on September 18th, with his side struggling for goals in the absence of the England centre forward.
Before Sunday’s trip to the Emirates, Spurs had only scored three times in their last six appearances and only once from open play.
Desperately missing the man who scored 25 goals in the Premier League last season, Mauricio Pochettino handed Kane his first start for six weeks in a derby expected to be a walk in the park for The Gunners.
Spurs however held firm, despite going 1-0 down before half time courtesy of a Kevin Wimmer own goal, but in the second half Mousa Dembele’s charging run was halted unfairly by Laurent Koscielny in the penalty area and Kane did the honours to rescue a point for the away side.
His celebration said it all and speaking after the game, admitted it had been tough to watch his team compete without being able to play a part, but it was a fantastic feeling to step foot back onto the pitch and score against Tottenham’s bitter rivals.
“It felt great to be back out there with the team, fighting for the team and I was delighted to get a goal,” he told the club’s official website.

“It was an important goal to get us back in the game and we could even have sneaked a winner at the end when Christian [Eriksen] hit the post.
“I’ve scored a few goals against Arsenal now and it gets sweeter every time I score, especially in front of the fans. The travelling support was great again.
“I feel good. It’s been a tough spell sitting it out and watching the team so I was delighted to get back out there and get some minutes under my belt.”
Kane’s return comes at a pivotal time for Tottenham with further London derbies against West Ham United and Chelsea, but also a trip to Monaco in the Champions League with anything less than a win putting his side’s qualification hopes in serious doubt.

The international break sees the 23-year-old link up with England once again and could feature in the friendly with Spain and the World Cup qualifier against Scotland as he works his way back to full fitness.
A draw with Arsenal still means Spurs are without a win in seven games, but taken off towards the end of the match after securing his side a well-deserved point, Kane was happy to share the spoils against Arsene Wenger’s side.
“I thought we controlled the game for large parts,” he continued. “They caught us on the counter-attack a few times but overall, I thought we played well and we could easily have nicked the winner in the end.
“The draw isn’t the worst result in the world.”
