Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale has suggested on Sky Sports, during their live coverage of the Wales game, that Jose Mourinho would have been pleased with Rob Page last night.

With Wales 2-0 up and cruising against Finland, Wales opted to bring Bale off.

The Spurs man had looked fairly sharp during his time on the pitch, but Mourinho has made no secret over his desire for his players to be protected.

And Bale thinks that the Spurs boss will be delighted with Page, as he withdrew him ahead of time.

“I got an assist at the start but the most important thing is we got the win and the result,” Page said.

“It’s taking time [to get back fit], I’m getting there though. I think being 2-0 up the manager kept Tottenham happy.”

Mourinho’s influence was clear last night, as Harry Kane was also withdrawn for England in their game against Iceland.

Tottenham appear to have got though the most recent international break without any injury concerns.

That a major boost to Mourinho’s side, ahead of their game against Manchester City this weekend.

If Spurs can win they will move back to the top of the Premier League table, ahead of Leicester’s clash with Liverpool on Sunday.
