Tottenham Hotspur have some fine young midfielders looking to make their mark in the years ahead.

Tottenham Hotspur have a whole host of talented teenagers in their ranks but rarely do we look at the strength in depth in particular areas.

Today we consider Tottenham’s midfield options of the future, with the five best young players currently playing for the under-18 and under-21 sides.

Marcus Edwards

This would not be a viable list if we did not include the crown jewel in Tottenham’s proverbial crown.

Marcus Edwards may only be 17 but huge things are expected of him, unsurprisingly given his innate talent and the fact that he has been making waves in Spurs’ academy for years now.

Tashan Oakley-Booth

Potentially the next big thing after Edwards, 16-year-old Tashan Oakley-Booth is a versatile midfielder who has already featured three times for Tottenham’s under-23s this season.

He can play as a holding player, centrally, in a more attacking role or on the left wing and it will be interesting to see which position he ultimately makes his own.

Keanen Bennetts

The only out-and-out winger on this list, 17-year-old Keanen Bennetts is equally comfortable on either flank and he has both the pace and the trickery to bamboozle opponents.

With one goal and one assist in four under-23 appearances he will be hoping to take another step up on the road towards the Tottenham first-team this season.

Anton Walkes

Tottenham fans have been getting excited about Anton Walkes for a while now and that is no surprise.

The 19-year-old is predominantly a defensive midfielder who can also operate as a centre-back if required – as he has this season – and with 31 appearances at under-23 level under his belt he recently made the step up to the senior side for the EFL Cup clash with Gillingham.

Luke Amos

An unheralded star in the making, 19-year-old Luke Amos is the current skipper at under-23 level and has already racked up 25 appearances for the second string.

A defensive midfielder with tenacity, strength and the focus required to succeed at the top level, Amos can also play as a centre-back if required.
