Tottenham’s Eric Dier has labelled Christian Eriksen a ‘maestro’ on Instagram after he returned to the Premier League on deadline day.
Forget about anything else, the best deal of the January transfer window was Eriksen signing for Brentford.
When the ex-Spurs man’s return was confirmed, he expressed his delight on Instagram, with several of his ex-teammates reacting to the news:
Kyle Walker-Peters, who is now at Southampton, wrote in the comments section ‘Love to see it’, whilst Georges-Kévin Nkoudou added: ‘Let’s go Maestro’.
There will be some Tottenham fans questioning why they didn’t bring Eriksen back to north London given that he is now fit and healthy to play.
Ever since his departure from the club, Spurs have missed his quick-thinking and technical efficiencies in the middle of the park.
But, for someone like Brentford, securing the signing of Eriksen just goes to show how far they have come as a club.
Whilst they are sitting in the Premier League’s bottom half, there isn’t any danger of them going down and they should be fine to secure their status.
As a result, they can afford to slowly ease Eriksen in and it’s going to be interesting to see how well he works his magic.
From when Eriksen first arrived on the Premier League stage in 2013, no other player has scored more goals from outside of the box – and during that period he has been away at Inter Milan winning the Serie A title.
So, expect him to probably bang one in from distance when Spurs travel to Brentford in April.
