Eric Dier admits he had to change his game to succeed at Tottenham

The Tottenham Hotspur ace has been one of his side’s most consistent performers over the past few years.

Tottenham ace Eric Dier sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, and admitted that he struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League, suggesting that he has had to change his game to reach the levels needed to be a regular in Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

The 24-year-old joined Spurs from Sporting Lisbon in the summer of 2014, for a fee of just £4 million, and he has since gone on to establish himself as a first team regular for both club and country.

Dier has been utilised as both a centre-back and a central midfielder by Pochettino during his time in north London, and it is still a hot topic of debate as to where his best position truly lies.

The England international sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, and admitted that it hasn’t always been plain sailing for him since he swapped Portugal for England four years ago:

“I feel in my first season when I was younger and had just come in from Portugal that I struggled at times keeping up with the Premier League. I was in and out of the team but I learned a lot that season and adapted. I had to make changes and did in many areas to keep a consistent level throughout the demands of a whole season.”

The Tottenham ace has actually received criticism from some sections of the media and the Spurs support this season, but the good work that he does for the team often goes unnoticed, and he will certainly be an important player for his club and country for plenty of years yet to come.
