Spurs star Dele Alli sat down for an exclusive interview with Sky Sports News, and opened up on the role that he is most comfortable in playing, responding to a question asking whether he would like to ever play as a striker.
The 21-year-old’s rise to prominence has been quite exceptional, when it is considered that he was playing League One football with MK Dons just two years ago.
He has since gone on to establish himself as one of the Premier League’s finest midfield players, and he has now added an extra level of potency to his game.
His tally of 16 goals and five assists in 30 league outings for Tottenham this term is a quite remarkable return for someone so young, and the prospect of him improving further still as a player must be a frightening one for the rest of the Premier League.
Alli has played behind Harry Kane in the number 10 role for the most part this season, but during an interview with Sky Sports he was asked whether he would like to try his hand as a striker.

“I’m definitely a midfielder. When I start playing up top where H (Harry Kane) plays I don’t feel comfortable. I grew up watching Steven Gerrard a lot and he was a number eight so I’d like to play there but when competition is like it is you play anywhere the manager wants you to. And I can’t complain, I’m really am happy where I’m playing.
During Harry Kane’s absence through injury, Alli has really stepped up and produced the goods from a goal scoring perspective.
And if he can remain fit, and firing on all cylinders for the remainder of the season, Tottenham have every chance of overhauling Chelsea at the top if the table.
