The Tottenham Hotspur ace has been welcomed back to action with open arms by his teammates this month.
Spurs ace Christian Eriksen sat down for an exclusive interview with Sky Sports, and raved about the quality of his teammate Victor Wayama, labelling him as a player who he can really trust on the football pitch.
Tottenham signed the Kenyan from Southampton in the summer of 2016, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £11 million, and he has gone on to establish himself as one of the club’s most important players.
The 26-year-old returned to action at the start of this month, having been out injured since August, and the Lilywhites really missed his tenacity in the middle of the park during his prolonged absence.
Eriksen is a big fan of Wanyama, and he explained how much of an important role the former Celtic man plays in the team, when speaking exclusively to Sky Sports:
“He’s a fantastic team-mate. A team player who always puts his foot in and does the work for the team. On the pitch, I know if I go forward there is a guy behind me who will try to win the ball back so we can go forward again. He knows his role and he plays it very well. On the pitch you can trust him; he’s safe on the ball, a good passer, a good tackler and of course he’s a strong guy who you don’t get past very easily.”
Tottenham travel to St May’s to take on Wanyama’s former club Southampton today, and they will need the Kenyan to be at his powerful best if they are to leave the south coast with maximum points.
And now that the 26-year-old is back and fully fit, Spurs fans will be hoping that their club can cement their place back inside the top four.
