Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Christian Eriksen has struggled for form and fitness this season.

Christian Eriksen #23 of Tottenham Hotspur attempts a goal during an International Champions Cup match against FC Barcelona at the Rose Bowl on July 28, 2018 in Pasadena, California.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen has told the Daily Mirror that he is finally back to full fitness now.

Eriksen has struggled for form this season, and has regularly been left on the substitutes’ bench by Mauricio Pochettino.

The Danish international has been left short of fitness due to a stomach issue, but he is now over his injury problems.

And Eriksen says that he is looking to force his way back into Tottenham’s starting line-up.

“You try to play every game because you want to but at some point your body will say you need to take a break. That’s what my body did. Sometimes you need to listen,” the £11.5 million signing said (Daily Mail).

“I’ve only been playing one game a week to see how I feel. It’s been to see how my body will react.

“But I feel very good. We know the programme now between the middle of November until January – it’s going to be games every three days. I think everybody wants to play.”

Christian Eriksen of Spurs takes a corner during the Premier League match between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge on April 1, 2018 in London, England.

Eriksen is so vital to Tottenham’s attacking play that they deserve credit for coping so well without him at his best.

The playmaker is yet to score this season in his nine Premier League appearances.

Tottenham have had to rely on Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela to step up this term to cover for the loss of creativity due to Eriksen’s struggles, but his return to fitness is great news for Pochettino.

Spurs are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Chelsea on Saturday evening.
