Tottenham Hotspur could be in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer – but Ben Foster won’t be arriving.
Hugo Lloris appears to have the trust of Jose Mourinho, but whether Paulo Gazzaniga is considered good enough by Mourinho is another matter.
Michel Vorm will be leaving this summer, so bringing in another experienced goalkeeper may have been on Mourinho’s wish list.
The Telegraph reported in March that Tottenham had found a target. Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster was thought to be on the radar, with his contract coming to an end.
The 37-year-old has impressed for Watford since his 2018 move from West Bromwich Albion, and Tottenham are keen to sign him for free.
However, the possibility of such a move can now be ruled out. This evening, Watford have confirmed that Foster has signed a new two-year deal with the Hornets.

The veteran stopper has committed his future to the Vicarage Road club, meaning Tottenham will now have to look elsewhere if they want another goalkeeper.
In truth, a younger stopper who can eventually take over from Lloris would be ideal. Foster doesn’t really fit that bill, even if a free transfer would have been appealing.
